I made cards!! LOL

That's the trouble with working midnights, I don't have the time to do any creating after I wake up. It's either doing laundry, housework or trying to get caught up on my favourite sites to see what's happening.

Every Sunday, my 1st night off, I take almost all day to do stuff for me, create if I can, or just veg in front of the computer. Today I created!

They are both for DCM challenges. The 1st is for the Primary Colour challenge, it's going to DH for Father's Day, and the 2nd for the sketch challenge. Wish I could get my Mother's Day card for my mil done. LOL

I just noticed that the vellum tape I used for the skeleton leaf really shows through. Anyone got any tips for that?

I got tagged

by Esther. I have to tell 7 little known facts about myself.

  1. I get frustrated very easily.

  2. I'm really shy and everyone thinks I'm a bitch until they get to know me.

  3. I have 1sistter, 1 brother and 4 step sisters all older than me.

  4. I was in nurse's training til Ii got married and quit. (stupid)

  5. I will be married for 30 yrs next month!!!!! WOW! Thy said it would never last.

  6. I have no self confidence! It kills me to post stuff but I figure if I don't I'll never get over it.

  7. I've been grey since my early 20's but coloured it for years. Now I'm au naturel and I love it! LOL

K, now I have to tag 7 people and pry their 7 little known fact out of them. This was the hard part, so many blogs I go to have already been tagged. I don't want to be a nuisance. LOL

So Karie, Kelly, Nancy, Kim, Jacqueline, Robin, and Teri, you've been tagged! Sorry! LOL

a challenge

With flash showing truer colours but has flash mark on card.

Without flash, darker but showing the details better.

I had this terribly long explanation about this card and then my Firefox crashed. I lost it all.

Suffice it to say, Isabelle Norris is having a technique challenge on her blog and I cased one of Nancy Curry's cards from her book"Texture Effects"and added a few twists of my own. Check out Isabelle's blog for details off her challenge.

If you have any questions, please ask!

My mistake, the challenge called for distress inks, oops!! I really should read with a little more concentration. ! LOL Oh well I enjoyed making this card anyway.

bad, bad me

haven't done anything in 2 weeks except be lazy and worry about housework. Not that I did any mind you but I worried about it.

Meanwhile I had this swap to do for one of the groups I'm on for a Rolodex card swap. This is the 2nd installment for this swap but I missed the 1st and decided there was no way I was going to miss this one. so, in order to justify play time, I cleaned my windows on Sunday and Monday, I did laundry and cleaned the bathroom, not my favourite job in this house of 3 males and 1 female. LOL

Back to the swap, we were to decorate a 2.25 x 4" Rolodex card with a quotation and some kind of decoration, with flat embellies if we used them, and the back was to have some sort of decoration as well as all our pertinent info. We each had to do 22 cards. The above are what I came up with. Because the cards were plain white and rather flimsy, I adhered them to some gorgeous K & Company paper, cut them out, stamped the sentiment "The best and most beautiful things cannot b seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. - Helen Keller" in Versamark and embossed with gold e.p.. I punched out the large flower from dark patterned paper and the small out of gold mirror card and adhered them to the front. Distressed the edges with Chesnut pigment ink from Colorbox Hordes of Gourds Petal Point ink pad. On the back, I stamped the bouquet in Stone Shadow ink and the saying in Charcoal chalk ink, leaving the space on hte right for my info and distressed those edges with the charcoal chalk ink. TMI? - sorry! LOL

dcm Art Attack

oh I loved that show!!! Remember it in the 80'? Never mind!! LOL Another dcm challenge met today. Now I'm going back to work my muse has woken up!

The particulars for this card - I stamped the image in red on white card 1st, should have measured a little more carefully. Then I stamped it again ,white on black, sky blue on yellow and dark blue on green and clear embossed all images. I cut out the images on coloured paper and glued them to the white card arranged in a square. I then cut out the square and mounted it on black then a bright blue base card. Voilá!

Art Attack

I dare you to make a card inspired by a work of art. If the original art is out of copyright (this happens when the creator has been dead for 70 years or more) then you may use elements of the original artwork in your piece. Otherwise its inspiration only. Look out for colours, patterns, textures, compositions, shapes or themes that inspire you, and remember to show us the piece of art that inspired you to create so we can see the common ground.

What is art anyway? It's completely subjective, so your chosen inspiration could be architecture, one off design or mass produced products. Please remember to respect the right of the artist not to have their work copied without permission, take inspiration instead and make your own art!

vintage dcm

not sure how vintage this is but I had only done one arch and hadn't got the itch for doing them out of my system so this is what I did.

So once again, I'm trying too get caught up. LOL ;)

despite the snow

we've been getting the last 4 days, not enough to accumulate, TG, it is Spring so I'm trying to make the blog more spring-y. I'm trying to work on a new Banner , this should be fun, NOT! I'm so Gimp challenged, it'll be one big frustration, but I hope worth it in the end.

I'm off for 3 wonderful days this weekend so hopefully I'll have lots more art and stuff to share!

and another

well I hope I'm on a roll!! LOL This is Mar 30th dare on dcm. Love doing these. I just realized though that I have a tendency to reach for the tried and true instead of branching out into the unknown. My comfort zone is too comfortable. I'm going to try this one again in different colours.

Strictly Monochrome

After the sunshine comes the rainbow!
But this is red OR yellow OR pink OR green...
This week you can do ANYTHING you like on a card BUT you can only use one colour.
I (Lythan) have been very strict with the team and quite frankly enjoy the power when they come begging to be allowed to use just a hint of one other colour. I did in the end allow black for the sentiment particularly if you do an all white card. But the real idea is to have fun with just one colour and see just what variation there is.

This is also a huge thank you to all of you who visit my blog and are kind enough to leave wonderful comments about my art . Those comments mean the world to me. so

Thank you!!!

I did this one for me! I got this scrummy (thanks Gillian! LOL) paper during the closeout sale but only got 1 sheet! How silly is that? As soon as I saw it I knew it was made for these stamps from CTMH. But I still can't believe I picked up only 1 sheet!!!? I don't think I'm finished with this card yet. May end up colouring the fairies! May not!
