such fun!

a friend on one of my groups took a spill on some black ice last week and broke her arm. It was suggested that we'd like to sign her cast but it's made of a resin that doesn't take ink well and is actually covered in a sock, for now. Another friend came up with the idea to cyber sign her cast. BRILLIANT!

OMG I just realized that this sounded like I thought it was fun that my friend broke her wrist!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just that it was that another friend found a way for all her long distance friends to sign the cast for her. She is still in the same cast with another check up this Friday. Keeping everything crossed for that that she'll not need surgery. Here's the cast so far.

another arch

for the Gothic arch challenge this week. The theme picked was for old school. My memories of school are not the greatest and I wasn't the best student. My clearest memories are of wearing the wrong clothes in September when we went back to school. Inevitably you'd go to school in 60 degree weather and came home in 80, but you had dressed for the 60! LOL The wonderful morning light walking to school, the smell of leaves decaying after they'd fallen off the trees. Feeling frustrated when a concept wouldn't click and then the feeling of triumph when it finally did.

I looked at this little guy and I could just see the wheels turning in his head as to what other trouble he could get into when he got out of the corner. He makes me laugh!

I hope you enjoy it

recent art

please forgive the bad pics. My DH changed me over to a laptop and upgraded my Linux os but it's not letting us install my scanner or my colour printer. I hope we, read he, LOL gets this resolved soo, I have so many things I want to print off ... I made these last weekend. I find I really like doing skinny's!

my apologies

I was to announce my blog candy for hitting 5000 yesterday and I ended up sick instead. However here it is! I will pick 3 names and send each of those 3 a piece of personal art (and some goodies) that I'll make just for you. Tell me what size is your favourite and what you do with the art you make for challenges. If you do arches, do you make a book, 4x4's etc and if you want throw in a favourite theme, technique, background etc..... LOL

Thank you for your patience , for your visits and for all your wonderful comments. Every one of them makes me feel better about my art.

I'll pick the names next Sunday, Feb 3rd.

Gothic arches challenge today

is a Dog theme. Something I'm not too familiar with as I only ever had 1 dog in my life! And as it turns out I don't have very many images of them either! But I saw this one and couldn't resist and of course I had to add some hearts for Valentines day coming up!

Hope you enjoy it!

OMG 5000

WOW This is amazing!!!! I've hit 5000 exactly on the counter at the bottom of the blog. Thank you all ever so much for making this possible and stay tuned, I'll post some blog candy later today to help celebrate! I'll keep it up for the week so spread the word. I also hope to have some new eye candy today too! LOL

another music deco spread done

I think when we started this RR we had hoped to get all the decos done and home by Christmas '07. Well that didn't happen. We ended up with backlogs and people with not enough time to work on them for whatever reason, like me who needs to think about the spread for at least a week, but it's fun and we are coming to an end. This is my contribution to a music deco with the theme of Marilyn Monroe. In my research I learned many things about this beautiful lady and almost all of it made my jaw drop!

gothic arches

3 arches I created for a mingle on one of the Yahoo groups I'm on. Has the theme of Romance. Pardon the light splashes in the scan, the sun is gloriously shining in the window right into the scanner!

I bound my 12 days

book the day after Christmas with my new Bind it All and I love it. I may change the end papers b/c I wasn't very accurate on the corner cuts and you can see the canvas board I used for the covers. Also, the rings didn't come out round, 1st time and all, but I tied ribbon around them to hide that. I was going to do that anyways!! LOL

coming soon to a blog near you!!!

check out the site starting February 1st.

countdown.tentwostudios.com

P.S. I am making art but not as much as I'd like! I do have 3 gothic arches to finish this weekend and a couple more decos that landed in my lap last week that I really want to get done and out, I know the owners are anxious to get them home. And I so want to do some challenges.

My dear friend Heather nominated me for the You make my day 'award' and I'm to nominate others. I'll be doing that this weekend for sure. Oh, btw, my weekend isn't the same as most people, I have Sunday and Monday nights off, which I love!

Blog Candy alert!!!!!!!!!

my counter at the bottom of the page is now at 4797. When it hit 5000, 203 hits away, I'll be offering up some blog candy! I'm not sure what yet but I need to have something to celebrate all the wonderful people I have met through mine and others' blogs. You people are just freakin'

AWESOME!!!!!

Thank you!

it feels so good

to create again!! LOL

I'm in a group which is doing a RR of tipins for an altered book with each member doing one set of pages for 1 person a month. This is my contribution for a ladies book who's theme is Ancient Architecture.

When I was in high school I was sooooo interested in archaeology, I took Archaeology and Anthropology as one of my subjects in gr 11 I think it was. And my parents gave me a gorgeous book from National Geographic about Ancient Civilizations for Christmas that same year. I loved it and am still interested in the field. I wish I had had the dedication to make it a life thing.

hi again

It feels like forever since I've posted anything. The last couple of weeks have been rough, creatively speaking with holidays, remembrances, housework, and my little domestic diva (I like goddess better but this time she was indeed a diva) decided to rear her head and I had to get some housework done.

But now I have so much to get caught up on, I may post more than once between today and tomorrow! LOL

This is another monthly mingle from the byhand artists group based on Winnie the Pooh only I adapted it to the Tao of Pooh.

I cannibalized this from a notepad that I picked up at the $ store. Took off the acetate cover and the back, took 4 of the tabbed pages and attached quotes from the book that I had printed out and reattached everything. I had to add a .5" margin on the left of the back for binding purposes.

2008 is at the door...here
Remember, life is short.
Break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile.
Send to all the people that you love and don't want to lose out of your life in 2008, even me I hope.
Wishing you and your family and friends much happiness and joy in the New Year.

This was sent to me by 3 very dear friends from Australia who celebrated the New Year about 16 hrs before us. LOL Thank you, Heather, Rob and Bethel.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

12 Days of Christmas Fat Book

Back in October, I think, a bunch of us on the Byhand Yahoo group, link in the side bar, decided that we wanted to do a 12 days of Christmas fat book. I am so happy that I got into it! I showed my page in an earlier post but in the interest of continuity I included it here. So we got it done and our wonderful hostess had the pages back to us before Christmas. Now I'm going to decide on how to decorate my covers. I got a Bind-it-All for Christmas so binding isn't an issue! LOL

Christmas exchange

This is what I made a very sweet friend of mine for our Christmas exchange. At least this is how it left the house but I don't know if this is how she received it! I'm dying to know what she thought!???

Merry Christmas!!

Thank you to all my friends and acquaintances for visiting and leaving wonderful comments. I so appreciate everything and it's part of what keeps me going when I think I'm doing junk. LOL

Have a wonderful, blessed day.

I had a wonderful birthday, doing everything I wanted, DH made me a special dinner and I even got some creative time! Had to, I didn't get cards done for some important people! eek!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Joy of Christmas/Children

This is for Gothic Arches this week.
I have so many wonderful vintage images of children but the ones I love the most are the angel ones. I thought it was perfect that I had one holding toys!

I am not terribly happy with something I did on this arch. I listened to something someone told me a while back that you can attach vellum with a glue stick, no problem. HA, huge problem. I won't be so lazy the next time and I will go for my vellum tape! Despite that, I'm happy with this!

Someone told me that these arches are addicting, they were so right! LOL

Nope, I think I'm going to have to redo this! Darn!!!

oh my

Living in SW Ontario, we seem to be in a micro climate called the banana belt. Not today! It has been snowing, in earnest here, since about 3 a.m. and this is what it looked like outside about 2 hours ago and it's just about doubled since. You really can't see too much in the pic but it's just so pretty out! LOL I love snow and we just don't get as much as we used to when I was a kid.

birthday card

I made birthday card for a dear friend who's birthday just passed and I used a lovely image that Godelieve had offered up on her blog. I needed to make sure that the card arrived safely before I posted it!

sparkling wings

well I hope glittered works! LOL

This is for the Gothic Arches challenge this week. A dear friend sent me some punchinella and I had sooo much fun doing the b/g, probably tooo much fun! LOL

Christmas skinnys

for the Altered Designs Yahoo group I'm on. We were to do 1 skinny for 2 other people and in turn we would receive 2 from 2 others. They're pretty simple but I like how they turned out.

another mingle

for the monthly mingle on Byhand. I did this one on St. Lucia. The crown of fire represents the fire that she refused to allow to kill her.

I had such a productive day yesterday

I got 2 commitments, a birthday card and a challenge done.

One commitment was for the monthly mingle on the Byhand group. It's for a 4.5 x 4 page done in any occasion happening that month taken from a list compiled each month by our very talented hostess, Yogi G.

I chose to do St. Lucia's Day, Dec 13 which is celebrated in Sweden, Norway and Swedish speaking parts of Finland.

and the second was for a Christmas skinny mingle on Altered Designs

for Theme Thursday

Theme Thursday this week was for Winter/Snow in non traditional colours. I don't think you can get much more non traditional than this! This is a 4 x 4 using an image I bought after Christmas last year and my new Brilliance Dew Drops ink pad in silver (that's what the grey is). I had fun with this one! Hope you like it!

my 1st

for Gothic Arches with a Winter theme this week. Hope you like it, not sure yet if I do! LOL

great day

I had a great day yesterday! I got 4 loads of laundry done, changed sheets on 2 out of 3 beds (does anyone have teenage boy who doesn't want his sheets washed? GROSS!! I'll do them when he's at school today!), worked on the blog, cleaned my kitchen, cleaned my art space AND did some art! Tired today!

I'm in a music deco RR, I have posted pages that I have done before, and I got another spread done.

Supposed to represent Gordon Lightfoot's Canadian Railroad Trilogy chronicling the building of Canada's railroad.

another old card

until I start making them for this year.

I made this one for the Hero Arts Christmas contest in 2oo5. What a train wreck! LOL The layers really were straight, honest, I scanned it slightly off and cropped it straight.

Christmas

As you may, or may not, have noticed, I am a bit of a Christmas freak! Maybe it's because my birthday is the day before and when I was a kid the 24th was quiet with little celebrating and it was totally crazy Christmas day with family and friends but I just can't get enough. Drives my DH crazy as he is more like a Scrooge! LOL Anyway, please excuse all the Christmas paraphernalia I have on the blog right now, (you should see my Facebook!} but it will all be gone in a month. Thank you for your patience! LOL.

This is a card I made a while back.
